My Brother Too
I loved him like a brother
Although he was not mine

I loved him like a brother
And each and every time

I saw him as a brother
A one-in-a-million kind

I saw him as a brother
Whose smile always shined

I loved him as a brother
We shared the ties that bind

I loved him as my brother
I only wish we had more time

My memories of Brian,

First time I met him: May of 1997
When Eric's parents were on vacation, and I came over, Brian came down stairs and Eric and I were on the couch watching TV in the dark. He was very polite and gracious then he left the room quickly so his brother could have his privacy!

Brian's helpful hands:
Brian helped us sooo many times:
-he took a ride all the way up to Spring House Montgomery County, just to help Eric and I load up furniture from my aunt Marion’s apt. He was sooooo nice to my Grandmother and Aunt Ginny, and he made a great impression, even in the short time he was there. My grandmother and aunt later commented on how nice his was. I will never forget waiting outside in the Ryder truck with him at A Storage Haven we had to wait quite a while until the owner was back from lunch there was never a dull or silent moment in that truck he made it fun!

-Before our honeymoon, we saw 4 huge roaches in our apt. I was in a state of panic. Brian had already offered to stop by our apt. while we were away, to check on things and pick up the mail. So when we called him to see if he would set some traps and get rid of the roaches for us to, even though he skeeved at the thought of it, he got down on his hands and knees and covered the place in roach gel and spray. Now THAT'S a nice guy!

-I wasn't feeling well one night, and Eric had gone out with one of his friends. Earlier, he was talking to Brian, and telling Brian I was sick so Brian, being the kindest soul there is, asked Eric if there was anything I needed and he would bring it to me. I asked for Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie Frozen Yogurt. Not only did he bring it to me, but he had to dig all the way into the back of the freezer to find it!! What a guy!

-Brian had to work one day, and Eric and I came over to use the canoe. Before work, Brian came up to the lake and helped Eric and I get the canoe out. He didn't have to, but he did no questions asked.

The kindness and caring:
-Brian made us a huge seafood dinner while his parents were on vacation. It was the best meal I ever had even better then Red Lobster, and I LOVE Red Lobster!! He made it just for Eric and I. Brian and I shared a strange connection with food he loved to cook it and I loved to eat it, so we always had something to talk about!!

-I was very excited when we got our wedding video, and I couldn't wait to hear the things people said to us on it. Well, when we got to Kevin and Brian, I didn't know quite what to expect. I was brought to tears by what Brian said to me, it was one of the nicest things I've ever heard in my life.

-Later, after Brian passed away, my brother Kenny shared something with me that I will never forget. He told me he was having a hard time figuring out what to say to Eric and I on the wedding video, and that Brian helped him with his "speech." Brian was always there for you, no matter what.

My thoughts:
I often got upset/disappointed when we would invite Brian out, or to certain functions, and he said he couldn't go because he had to work. And I often think how much more fun and special those functions would have been if Brian were there, but he was very dedicated to work. I wish I had the opportunity to spend more time with him. But I treasure the times I had. I always felt like Brian and I had some type of connection, and the same sense of humor one glance and we kinda knew what the other was thinking at times. He always made me feel like I was part of the family, but he too made me feel like I was his friend. I will miss him terribly.
